LMD works with Gussie’s Kitchen to deliver meals and food parcels

LMD Vacuum Excavation, based in Staveley, is partnering with local charities and companies supporting the NHS and those most in need during the Covid-19 lockdown. The company has released one of its Sprinter vans and a driver to assist with food and essential equipment deliveries.

One of the first charities LMD was proud to help was Gussie’s Kitchen, a facility run by Chesterfield Borough Council. Gussie’s Kitchen collects, prepares and delivers foods to some of Chesterfield’s most vulnerable residents. Jenny Flood is the Volunteer Co-ordinator at Gussie’s Kitchen. Jenny sent us this lovely thank you message:

13 April 2020

Dear Mick,

Can I thank you from Gussie’s Kitchen for the wonderful help in collecting and delivering food and supplies at this difficult time for the communities in Chesterfield. Without your vehicle and staff we would have struggled to get the bags out!

Nothing was too much trouble, and your man Glen is our troubleshooter who has even worked out how to get this big chest freezer to us so we can take more food during the week, store it and put it in the bags.

We fed a total of about 500 people split across 238 households.

Without your company’s help we would be unable to meet the growing demand. We hope to meet you when safe to do so to thank you and your staff in person.

Kind regards

Cllr Jenny Flood – Rother Ward
