Meet the LMD team: James McMahon – Sales Manager
James McMahon has rejoined LMD Vacuum Excavation to take up the key role of National Sales Manager. Apart from a brief gap, James has worked continuously in the vacuum excavation sector since 2008 making him one of the pioneers of the technology in the UK.
Born and bred in Liverpool, James served an apprenticeship as a plant mechanic and the worked as a fitter on excavators and other construction plant. This was followed by three years as a holiday rep on the Greek island of Rhodes before the bright lights of construction lured him back to sell plant hire!
James worked for some of the leading national names in plant hire including A-Plant and Speedy before joining U Mole, which at the time was the agent for MTS vacuum excavators. James joined LMD in its early days before leaving to take up a job selling excavator attachments: breakers, grabs, forks and more.
‘Mick approached me to see whether I would be interested in rejoining LMD. After seeing how LMD had invested in new plant, its focus on health and safety, and the strength of its management team it was an easy decision to make.
I believe that the use of vacuum excavation will continue to grow across all areas of construction and civil engineering. LMD is strong in utilities, construction and highways, and the flexibility and adaptability of its fleet mean it carved out a niche for itself in more specialist areas such as rail.’
An avid Everton fan, James has a passion for 1980s music. He has presented online radio shows focussing on 80’s music for many years, most recently for RAM FM in the Netherlands where he interviewed many of the leading stars from the era including Ian Brody of the Lightning Seeds of ‘Three Lions on the Shirt’ fame.
