Meet the LMD team: Dan Griffiths – Operations Supervisor

Dan Griffiths joined LMD Vacuum Excavation as Operations Supervisor in January 2019. Dan is responsible for allocating the vacuum excavators in the LMD fleet to the many and varied projects undertaken by the company across the UK.

Dan has worked with vacuum excavators since 2014, originally with John Mee. As supervisor, he is the first point of call for any questions the drivers and operators may have. He is also responsible for booking their accommodation when they are away from home which, particularly on utility contracts, can be for significant periods of time:

‘Although there has been significant growth in the LMD fleet, we still work at or near capacity most days. It is therefore vital that the vacuum excavators are allocated as effectively as possible. Certain clients are very specific with regards to the type of vacuum excavators they require and this adds a further complication to the challenge!’

Dan completed his Site Safety Supervisor Training Scheme (SSSTS) qualification in February 2020.

Dan is no stranger to expensive and exotic ‘plant’ as he spent eight and a half years in the Army Air Corps looking after Apache attack helicopters. His time in the armed services include tours of Afghanistan and Libya.

Dan’s two children are sports fanatics. His daughter is a county swimmer and loves horse riding. His son also swims and has a passion for motocross. Dan himself was a keen swimmer in his youth and competed at the UK championships.
