LMD excavates 15m launch pit in shingle

Trenchless technology enables pipes and cables to be run under roads, railways, rivers and other obstructions. The use of trenchless techniques often requires the excavation of a launch pit for the impact mole or other trenchless apparatus.

LMD Vacuum Excavation recently worked on a project in London where a cable had to be taken under a railway line. Sheet piling had been used to create the ‘walls’ of the 15m deep launch pit, but the ground conditions were loose shale.

LMD deployed one of its fleet of vacuum excavators equipped with a Mega Arm Long Reach nozzle and extensions to accommodate the depth of the required excavation.

LMD has the most flexible and diverse fleet of vacuum excavators in the UK which enables it solve the broadest range of excavation challenges.
